Welcome to the February Newsletter! We're at the start of the Chinese Year of the Water Dragon, a year which promises to be exciting and dynamic! It's expected to be a year of great change and unpredictable events. According to Chinese tradition, the Dragon brings in the Four Blessings of the East: wealth, virtue, harmony and longevity. The Water Dragon favours the bold and the brave - this is no time to hide yourself away or be overly modest. It's a good year for creative and artistic ventures, with projects started in the Spring likely to be successful. The Dragon also helps those who are trustworthy and honest to develop their talents and realise their dreams. It's an excellent year for celebrations, especially family events, engagements and weddings. On the subject of love and romance, I can't close without a mention of Valentine's Day on 14th February. The shops are filling up with chocolates and cuddly toys and the price of roses is sure to soar in the coming days. If finances are tight this year, remember that although flowers and chocolates are lovely to receive, your love, time and undivided attention is the most precious gift you can give to the one you love. (That said, I've a lovely selection of jewellery, charms and gifts made using gemstones for love and relationships!) If you'd like to know what makes your partner, or prospective partner, tick (according to their astrological sign), take a look at Jonathan Cainer's videos 'Being in Love With...' on his website http://www.cainer.com/

New! I'm currently working on a new range of 'Shamballa' style bracelets, and after a time of (quite literally!) tying myself in knots, I've finally got the hang of it. The bracelets are adjustable and made using gemstones interwoven with strands of cotton cord. To increase the energy in each bracelet, each knot is sealed with a blessing for love, luck, health, happiness, peace and inner strength. These are available on the Jewellery Shop page and I'll be adding more as soon as they're available.

Clear Quartz Also known as Rock Crystal, Clear Quartz is one of the most powerful, widely available and versatile of all gemstones. Many ancient cultures believed it to have magical and healing powers. Clear Quartz can be used in any form of healing. It absorbs and stores positive energy, releasing it when needed, while focusing and amplifying the healing energy of other stones. Because it contains all colours, Clear Quartz unblocks and energises all of the chakras, balancing them and bringing the subtle bodies into alignment. Working on all levels - mental, emotional, physical and spiritual - it can enhance psychic abilities and help you to find your spiritual path. Clear Quartz also raises energy levels, improves the memory and aids concentration. Its ability to help you think clearly improves perception and understanding. A Clear Quartz cluster can be placed in a room to absorb negativity and transform it into healing vibrations.

Featured Essential Oil - Jasmine
Jasminum grandiflorum, Jasminum officinalis
Jasmine is one of the more expensive essential oils, as the flowers need to be harvested at night and produce only a small amount of oil. Because the scent of the blossoms is stronger after sunset, it's known in India as 'The Queen of the Night' Only a small amount of this oil is needed as its beneficial effects are as powerful as its aroma and it's often found already diluted to make it more affordable. A little goes a long way! Its fragrance is sweet and slightly hypnotic, euphoric and relaxing. It has anti-depressant properties and can lessen anxiety and reduce nervous tension. Jasmine restores confidence and vitality and is thought to bring out inner desires, which may explain its reputation as an aphrodisiac. |

Its relaxing effects on the respiratory system can soothe a nervous, irritating cough. In skin care, it's suitable for all skin types, particularly dry or sensitive skin. A blend of Jasmine, Mandarin and Lavender in a base of Rosehip Seed oil may also help to reduce scarring and soften stretch marks. Jasmine is an oil of balance and unity between apparent opposites, combining Yin and Yang energy. It warms the heart chakra, opening the heart to both physical and spiritual love. It's believed to develop the artistic senses, by increasing sensitivity to beauty in all its forms and enhancing creative skills. Although generally a non-toxic and non-irritant oil, Jasmine is best avoided if you need to concentrate, as it may induce feelings of light-headedness. It should not be used during pregnancy as it can stimulate uterine contractions. However, it may help to speed up delivery and ease pain during childbirth. |

Book of the Month: Psychic Self-Protection by Judy Hall If you're sensitive to energy vibrations, without some level of energy protection you may find yourself feeling drained or generally 'out of sorts' for no apparent reason. Although Judy Hall gives advice on how to protect against psychic attack and ill-wishing, she doesn't dwell too much on the subject. This book also has lots of information on the more everyday challenges, such as geopathic and electromagnetic stress, negative thoughts and toxic emotions. Using a wide range of techniques, including visualisations with or without gemstones, Judy Hall gives clearly written guidance on ways to keep positive in a changing world. |

Birthday Gemstones Every gemstone and crystal is governed by planetary forces, and wearing one corresponding with your astrological birth chart is believed to strengthen these celestial energies. This is covered in depth in Vedic Astrology, where gemstones are chosen to strengthen astrological weaknesses in the natal chart and is a very complex subject. However, a more simple way is to choose a gemstone which corresponds with the Star sign or month of birth. February includes the birthdays of those born under the sign of Aquarius (20th January-18th February) and Pisces (19th February-20th March). Both of these astrological signs resonate with the energy vibrations of both Amethyst and Aquamarine, and are compatible with Fluorite and Labradorite gemstones. Other beneficial gemstones include Amber and Angelite for Aquarians, and Turquoise and Blue Lace Agate for Pisceans.
